The BasketVol Senior class.
Recruited by Buzz Peterson, and finishing their careers at Thompson-Boling Arena (the “Tommy Bowl”), under Bruce Pearl, having held a top 10 ranking all year and at one point a #1 ranking.
Congrats to Chris Lofton, JaJuan Smith and Jordan Howell for finishing out their Thompson-Boling Arena with a win, and having great careers for the University of Tennessee. You’ll always be Vols, and Tennessee will always be… Home Sweet Home… you guys know how it goes.
Turning to the game, it’s always a good sign when Steven Pearl gets significant minutes, as does Tanner Wild, Ryan Childress, and you know, other players I’ve never even heard of before. I think the bench gave Tanner Wild more crap for making the running layup for a three point play than when he missed an wide open layup earlier in the season.
Up next is the SEC Tournament in Atlanta, where the SEC Postseason championship is up for grabs. Good luck to the BasketVols. It seems only a matter of time before #5 will be hanging in the rafters next to Ernie and Bernie.

In all fairness to Tanner, he didn’t really miss a wide-open layup earlier in the season. He alley-ooped the ball off the backboard (think JaJuan snafu vs. Bama) to Duke, and Duke didn’t get the memo. I was listening on the radio, and Bob & Bert did not recognize this fact, but it sounded fishy, so I went and checked the video for myself.
After Duke grabbed the ball and laid it in, he was apologizing to Tanner for missing the boat on a potential highlight play.
I see, I hadn’t really remembered the game in which that happened either, so silly me, I decided to believe what the Kesling/Bertelkamp Propaganda machine had cooked up.
Tanner’s cool though, and the fact that they gave him crap I think is a good sign of team chemistry, because guys that don’t care, just don’t care.
