Well, it’s Kentucky week um, next couple of days. Of course, this has been a fun rivalry over the years for previously the few, and now, the many Tennessee Basketball fans have looked forward to every season.
Playing Kentucky at Rupp Arena is a special thing, as even Bruce Pearl will attest to. Although the honeymoon is most definitely over with Billie Gillespie, the truth is, the Cats have shown flashes of coming together as a team, beating Vandy and coming pretty close to beating Florida.
Of course, Tennessee will be expected to win the game handily (which hasn’t exactly happened often in the past), rivalry games are generally where you can throw out betting lines due to the emotion and all that other crap.
Tennessee sometimes has the bad habit of making teams look better than they actually are, but this season, they’ve been able to close out games, which should bode well for the team during their SEC schedule. Will the BasketVols lose another game this season? It’s definitely possible. Will it be Tuesday against Kentucky? Let’s hope not. But like I said before, Kentucky at Rupp is a pretty excellent home court advantage. Wait, I didn’t say that before? Oh. Nevermind.
*edit* Go check out our friends at A Sea of Blue for a Kentucky Perspective on the game.

The only reg. season loss I can tell would come at the hands of Memphis. If all goes well for both teams (and Kansas loses a game) we could very well see a #1 vs #2 on Feb. 23. Too bad its not at T.B.A.
It has just become a “fun” rivalry for UT as of late, especially since UK OWNS UT in basketball. I am happy Pearl is at UT. Finally, another team in the SEC that competes and makes the conference stronger. I hope Pearl stays with you folks for a while so that the rivalry will become just that.
I’m a UK fan, but I’ve watched Bruce to know that he pretty much wins everywhere he goes. I hope the rivalry continues, something I cannot say for the Gators.
