Priceless Quotes

I’m not one to condone, motivate, encourage, or make light in any way of any other school’s traditions or trash talking, but when Bama home games end, they’re generally accompanied by a slightly modified version of a Gary Glitter (you know, the child molester who is currently in a Vietnam prison) song, Rock and Roll Part 2 otherwise known as “The Hey Song” where afterwards, they have a bit of a chant.

It’s the Rammer Jammer cheer, where they say something to the tune of “we just beat the hell out of you.”  I’ll be the bigger man and admit it, yes you did.  We got our asses handed to us with parsley on the side.  It went from bad at the start, to worse during the game, and even worse by the time the game ended.   After the game, Coach Fulmer was asked about the penalties that had, to this point, eluded the Volunteers, but showed up in droves on Saturday.  His reply?  (Peerless) Priceless:

“We haven’t been a real penalized football team. They did a good job on some of the under routes and things like that; I guess we might have held a jersey or something, I don’t know. It’s hard to simulate the speed of those in practice. I’ll have to see the tape. But we did practice real well this week. Maybe we need to practice crappy and play better.”

I don’t want to ruin it with unnecessary commentary so, look for more analysis later.

They didn’t show a close-up of the pass interference, but from the far shot it looked ticky-tack. And then to top it off the next play, Hall pushes off for a TD. How can they call one and not the other on back to back plays?

Not that it mattered in the end.

Fulmer’s talents as a coach and a motivator really shined on Sunday. He’s had a top 10 and many times a top 5 recruiting class for as long as I can remember and the best he can do against a “dying program” is 41-17 ? To top it off he uses penalties as an excuse. With the kind of talent we have in stock we should be dominating everybody including the “untouchables” like Florida and Cal

Ok so lets say he’s right; it’s the homer refs fault….so take away one of Bama’s TDs…….the final score is now 34-17…..Now who does he blame?

It’s clear that Fulmer was out- coached and out-played and not by just a little. This wasn’t just a fluke TD in the last seconds of a well-played game, what happened on Saturday was a total domination by a team that Nick Saban didn’t recruit and by players he’s only known since December…..In other words the beginning of the end for Fulmer.

What happened on Saturday should send shivers down your spine if you’re a UT fan because Meyer and Miles and Spurrier and even Saban aren’t likely looking for jobs anytime soon.

But Lucky for us, Fulmer just bought himself another couple years with a million dollar donation the scholarship fund.

Unless something major happens; we should preapre for several more 7-5s and if its a good year 9-3 -type seasons.

As for me I hope it doesn’t take that long…

Above should read: …”…really shined on Saturday” (not Sunday….silly me)
