Of course, this is a stupid question to write about here at a sports blog, but I’ve come to realize that within my group of friends, there are quite a few people who either don’t talk about, care about, or even watch sports.  Which leads to my question: Why do some people think sports is boring?  We will take a look at this odd phenomenon where i will take a serious look at real reasons behind why people don’t like sports whilst simultaneously bashing them in a passive aggressive manner.

One of the first answers that comes to mind is that games are generally pretty long.  Football games routinely run 3.5 hours, while basketball games are generally around the 2.5 hour mark.  Of course, your modern craptacular movies generally run a little over 2 hours, and the people that don’t like sports seem to enjoy watching shitty movies with little regard to the fact that they have no connection with the characters in the movie, as well as the realistic possibility that those characters will never show up again.

Another reason is perhaps a hatred of kinship with the fellow man.  Some people take pride in not “following the herd” or being conformist in any way.  These are people who call themselves “rebels” when they’re younger and “free thinkers” when they’re older, or to everyone else “losers.”  Why must one try to feel different all the time?  Sometimes conformity has it’s perks.  Hear that?  By the way, let me see some ID, comrade.

The other reasons, we’ll lump together here, seeing as how they’re reaches in terms of reasons for not liking something as awesome as sports.

• Having attended an asexual sports school.  These are schools that generally play in D3, or even non-NCAA sanctioned football schools.
• Dislike of the brutality of sports?  Lame.
• Dislike of competition where someone has to win and someone else has to lose.  Parents these days apparently send their kids to softball camps where everyone gets an equal chance to play, and the score isn’t kept, and there are no losers.  This is about the dumbest crap I’ve ever heard of.  Losing is part of life, learn to deal with it, and use it as a lesson to teach your kids.  Don’t turn them into time-outing, loser-ass, whiny, hippie bitches.

So, apparently people have valid reasons as to why they might not like sports, but they’re all dumb reasons, and shouldn’t be taken seriously.  I mean, how could someone not like sports?  So, for everyone who is visiting this site, go out and convert your friends who might be really dumb lacking the proper enthusiasm for the glue that binds us.
