Okay, so instead of the normal Thursday Night Roundup, we’ll have a pseudo roundup coupled together with a Quick Questions segment.
First on the docket, the Oregon State Beavers vs. the Bear Cats of Cincinnati. The game saw the Bear Cats completely dominate the Beavers from start to finish, holding the Beavers to a field goal vs. their 34 points. And thus continues the dominance of the Pac10… Oh yeah, I went there.
The more interesting game of the evening (save the Colts/Saints game) was the Middle Tennessee State vs. Louisville game that saw a total of 100 points scored on 1200+ yards of offense. Louisville was able to hold on for the win in what was a LOT closer than anyone would have imagined. That being said, let’s move on to our Quick Questions:
1. Is the Sun Belt Conference that awesome? Or is Louisville hopelessly overrated?
2. Will Louisville stay put, go up, or go down in the next poll, following a close win to (middle) TENNESSEE (state)?
I know it sounds like I’m picking on Louisville, and well, I am. I hope the Wildcats can take them behind the woodshed and knock some humility into those corporate pansies. Oh yeah, I went there too.

1. Louisville is hopelessly overrated. They play cupcake teams and have no defense.
2. They should drop to at least 12 depending on how the other top 10 teams do this weekend.
On a side note, I think it is retarded that the AP poll will now start ranking Div. 2 teams in the top 25. If that is how it’s going to be, then Florida should be #1 in the D. 2 poll for smacking around whatever little team they played last week.
Because of the BCS *guh!* and because of the Football CHAMPIONSHIP Subdivision…you can’t compare the two. This is like asking whether you like moon rocks or caviar with your grilled carburetor – medium rare, of course. It’s two entirely separate entities. Why shouldn’t Appy State receive a vote? LSU hung 24 on them in a shut out, and we got ragged for it. They ARE a good football team. But you can’t compare the two conferences, until FCS implements a playoff. Appy State plays in the FCS, NOT the FBS.
1. That said…Louisville emphasizes offense…Sunbelt emphasizes rent-a-wins. You’ve got North Texas (which would be a bottom dweller in any 6 BCS teams) and that’s pretty much it. Troy assumes a good stance, but gets trounced regularly. There’s a solid reason they aren’t a BCS team. Are they that bad? The word “relative” comes to mind. North Texas went toe-to-toe with LSU in 2005, and LSU hung 56 on them with the Mean Green responding with only a measly field goal. CFB is a lot more than physical prowess…it’s strategy, coaching, execution, strength, desire……….and depth. The first five are key in the first quarter. The sixth is key in the next THREE quarters. Sunbelt prattles around in their own conference until they’re asked to whore out in a NFL preview game. Louisville’s got a QB, they always have had…but until the rest of the team steps up to the plate, they’ll dominate the Big East and pretend to be a real football team. And WVU will chuckle accordingly.
