Fulmer’s Belly would like to issue a warm welcome to the VolNation and SECsportsNation folks who have been visiting us over the last few days. Obviously, being the offseason, the writing is few and far between, but nonetheless, if there’s something interesting going on, rest assured, we’ll make fun of it.

Here’s an excerpt from co-writer Don’s idea of what Fulmer’s Belly is all about in case you’re joining the party late:

I sat down at the computer and thought I’d try and force a post so that there’d be some new content up on the page. I participate in this little College Pick ‘Em thing sponsored by Yahoo! wherein you compete against your friends picking teams against Vegas odds, so I was thinking it might be fun to post my picks. It took about two seconds before I realized that no one cares who I pick to win a game – it’s not like you saw us on ESPN as gameday fortune tellers.

Most other blogs out there try and give you a no nonsense approach to UT athletics – they read the numbers like ESPN or Govols.com do not do and cut through the bullshit to tell you guys some real stuff, and a lot of them do a great job at doing it. It’s hard to look at some of the other blogs (click on any at the right) and find them talking about how good a team like Kentucky really is (well, wait til Thanksgiving) and that it’s stupid to look past them. They cut past all that and tell you the opposing team sucks and why we should win. But that’s not why we’re here.

We here at Fulmer’s Belly (you can tell by our name) don’t really want to be just another blog you click on just to get some different point of view from the statistics (we majored in chemistry and economics…we really don’t know much math anyway). We are some of the cockiness that is associated with Tennessee athletics, and we do our best to over-exaggerate it.

As you might notice, we’re mainly a football blog, but we also cover random sports that we happen to see on TV that feature Tennessee.  Recently, that was the Women’s College World Series, Mens and Womens Basketball, and well, nothing else really.  We often like to make up fake crap about different schools and what not, as can be evidenced by our award-winning SEC Traditions Feature.

So, feel free to read through some of our old posts (there was some good stuff from last year around football season), and we’ll probably even resort to reposting some of that stuff because we’re not creative wanting to share less-publicized stuff with the rest of you all.
