Good bye, big guy

ESPN is reporting that Fulmer’s stepping down, and no one’s sadder than us, who will now have to find a new website name.  Brent Hubbs is probably dancing in his skinny ass narrow shoes right now. The best thing woulda just been to throw Clawson under the bus, see if he couldn’t ride it out for a few more games.

And fuck all of you fans that were hating on Fulmer and killed our site.  Dammit.

Anyway, maybe now we can make a move for Lane Kiffin before anyone else gets their hands on him.  Perhaps there’s someone already in the works. Mike Hamilton hit paydirt with Bruce Pearl, let’s see if he can get lightning to strike twice.

Any thoughts on where/if Fulmer will take his next job?  Clemson maybe?

That all being said, we really do wish the best to Phillip Fulmer, and while some Tennessee fans might be glad to see him go, we still respect the man and thank him for many great seasons.  Hopefully tomorrow will bring a promising new day to both Fulmer and Tennessee football.

I am sad to see Fulmer go. But I think after this year it is time for a change. I am in Lexington KY, all I ask is that Tennessee, Fulmer and the boys pull out one more win this year. With that said, good luck Phil and your future.

As for replacement, I want Mike Leach from Texas Tech. Someone told me this morning that he coached at Kentucky when Tim Couch was here and at OU when they won the national championship.

    GO VOLS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s an interesting choice…I’ve also read elsewhere that TT isn’t ready to pay him what he ought to be making as an elite coach, which he clearly is. Might be an easy steal.

Will Muschamp is the next bruce pearl.

I think it’s unfortunate he couldn’t go out with a winning season but I think this season showed that it really wasn’t Fulmer that kept the team winning but the people surrounding him (e.g. Cutcliffe, Chavis, Trooper Taylor, Jim Bob Cooter…). I wish the big man best of luck wherever he goes and I pray that the next guy that comes in here can pull a Saban and get us back to BCS contention within 2 years.

hey FB. You will not have to change the name of your site but you will be blogging about a different football team next year LOL (just kidding).
I hope Hamilton had a list of replacements in his Top Drawer and is now making phone calls. Are we still a big enough nation wide draw to snag a coach like Mike leach away from Texas tech? Do we go in a different direction like a NFL coach such as Gruden or Cowher? If so will those guys put in the effort in recruiting? Right now I am leaning torwards a Mike Leach type.

I heard there’s a dude named Heimerdinger somewhere in the state that’s coaching pretty well. Oh, and a guy named Schwarz, and another named Jeff something? Fishing? Fisherman?

I don’t know that I’m as sad to see Fulmer go as I am disappointed in the behavior of some vocal anti-Fulmer UT “fans.” But, the deed is done and he’s gone. I like Leach, too. I think he has a belly too, so you could just change it to Leach’s Belly.

I hope they keep Chavis though.

    What happened to:
Fans are patient (with their coaches).
Fans are kind (to the fan-mate who spilled their beer down their back because of cheering a scored touchdown pass) ,
Fans do not envy (the other team for winning).
Fans are not rude (to their own members).
Fans keep no record of wrongs (except for those committed against their own team).
Fans do not delight in loosing a coach but looks forward to a new era.
Fans always protects (the teams image), always trust their players (to shake it off and do better next time), always hopes (to win the next game), always perseveres (team spirit).

Fans never fail (to at least check the score and catch the recaps of every game).

    Really?!?

I have mixed feelings about him leaving. I hate to see him go, but I would like to watch football again–I’ve honestly just given up! I do appreciate all he’s done, but many have said I am still living in the 90’s with my idealistic version of Fulmer. I tend to agree with Paul. Maybe he just surrounded himself with talent–but isn’t that what makes a good leader? Hmmm. I would really like to see him stay around UT in some capacity. He is one of the best recruiters in the country–maybe he can help bring in fresh talent. I’d hate to see him go somewhere else. Given that he played at UT and worked his way through the ranks, it just wouldn’t seem right to see him anywhere else.
