It’s that time of the week again. Time for you to critically examine our ballot, point out why you think it’s stupid, then we question our very existence. Anyway, without further ado:

| Rank | Team | Delta |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Alabama | 1 |
| 2 | Penn State | 1 |
| 3 | Texas Tech | 1 |
| 4 | Florida | 2 |
| 5 | Southern Cal | 2 |
| 6 | Texas | 5 |
| 7 | Oklahoma | 1 |
| 8 | Utah | 1 |
| 9 | Oklahoma State | 1 |
| 10 | Boise State | 1 |
| 11 | TCU | 1 |
| 12 | Tulsa | 1 |
| 13 | Georgia | 8 |
| 14 | Brigham Young | – |
| 15 | Missouri | 4 |
| 16 | LSU | 4 |
| 17 | Ball State | 1 |
| 18 | Ohio State | – |
| 19 | North Carolina | 3 |
| 20 | California | 6 |
| 21 | West Virginia | – |
| 22 | Georgia Tech | 4 |
| 23 | Florida State | 8 |
| 24 | Northwestern | 2 |
| 25 | Pittsburgh | 1 |
I think we could argue all day about the top 3, and if you have any good argument for rearranging Texas Tech, Alabama, or Penn State, let us know in the comments and we’ll probably roll with it. Florida got a big jump and proved it was the best 1 loss team in the country with a walloping of Georgia, who falls to 13 and which seems a bit generous.
Texas remains ahead of Oklahoma simply because they beat them just a few weeks ago; it seemed silly to give Texas a lower ranking than a team they beat a few weeks ago, although it was tempting. Utah moves up a spot despite its struggles against New Mexico this weekend, but that’s merely because there was enough action up top and no one below that has really made a case to push ahead.
Florida State falls pretty significantly, as Georgia Tech makes an appearance in the poll, and it would seem sad to still have FSU ranked ahead.
Anyway, I’d like to think this is a work in progress. It’s still perhaps a little fuzzy, and it’s probable I forgot a team that deserves to make it, so let your thoughts known.
