Back… To the Future

Posted on Friday 23 January 2009

Well, we’re still racking our brains as to what direction in which to take our new site. We’ve got a couple of ideas kicking around right now, but we’d like to hear from you, cool readers.

Aside from keeping my mind off of the creepy watch (which is real beefe… I can send it to you if you’d like), we do need to think up a new idea/concept for the site, and well, who better to ask than the people we’ll no doubt alienate with the new format?

So, put your ideas in the comments, and we’ll totally consider them.

Watch Out?

Posted on Tuesday 20 January 2009

Sorry guys, this has nothing to do with sports or anything, but it’s been creeping me out lately.. so…

So, an odd thing has happened to me recently, and from speaking with friends of mine, I’ve decided to air it out, and see if anyone had anything constructive to add on the topic.

As some of you may or may not know, I recently went out of the country for awhile. Whilst I was abroad, I stayed at a friend’s place for a short period at which point, I noticed an odd item in my luggage that I did not pack. It was a small box which had the great seal of the United States on the outside, along with the words: “The White House.”

Inside the box, was a wristwatch, that also had the seal on it. The odd part wasn’t necessarily the watch itself, but how it found its way into my bag. I asked my friend about it, and she denied having any knowledge of the watch, and recommended that I dispose of it.

Cut to a couple of months later, I was leaving to come back to the US, when I decided that I would dispose of the watch in the airport garbage can. As far as I know, nobody saw me dispose of the watch, but that’s neither here nor there.

I got back home to California in mid-December, and went about my business as usual. Approximately a month later, I was looking out for a dvd that I had ordered online. When I went to the mailbox, there were two packages, one presumably containing the dvd (it did), and the other in a plain, white padded envelope with no return address. My name and address were printed on a piece of paper and clear taped to the front. Upon opening the package, I found the watch.

I had no way of verifying whether or not it was the exact same watch that I threw out, but I can verify that it is of the same make and model of the one that I had originally found in my checked baggage.

I can’t exactly make out where and/or how I got the watch in the first place, and again, how it seems to have found it’s way back to me about a month after I threw it out, but if anyone has had anything similar happen and/or might have any insight into it, I’d appreciate it.

Well, here’s a couple of pictures of said watch…Needless to say, I’m kind of creeped out by the whole situation.

Proud Papa

Posted on Saturday 3 January 2009

We’re assuming that everyone was wathing Phil Fulmer do, for lack of a better phrase… a heck of a job at some commentary about the day’s football happenings.  With Lou Holtz in Memphis to watch his son’s team get beaten by another otogenarian, the analyst chair was left vacant for a night.  And with a few calls (and a little reinforcement), the chair then held the backside of our favorite coach: Phillip Fulmer.

I personally thought he did a fine job at the analysis, sounding smooth and well-versed without sounding too rehearsed.  Oh, and the lack of Holtz-spittle I think was nice for cohorts Mark May and Rece Davis.  As it appears that most of the coaching vacancies this year have been filled, I think it might be kind of cool to see Fulmer as part of the College Football Scoreboard crew, even alongside Lou Holtz.  They could turn it into a college football version of the NFL Countdown show, where they have approximately 900 people on their panel of experts.

I think it would be a good deal to see him up there, if for no other reason than that he needs a job in these hard times.  I do too, but I’ll defer.
